Finished: hibi 10 Minute Aroma Ylang Ylang Review
My review of Hibi 10 Minute Aroma Ylang Ylang matches.
I bought it from the Misc store in Elandsgracht, Amsterdam. First of all, what a beautiful store to spend time in. If you are around, I definitely recommend you check it out. They also have a website if you are curious about their collection.
In the store, I was able to smell their vast collection, and deciding on Ylang Ylang was a challenge, but a fun one. But the rest also smelled amazing.
I love smelly things, and I have a thing for burning things too. So, it was a perfect treat for me. So I legitimized the price-per-burn rate in my head.

The package includes two inner packages: one with the burning mat and the other with 8 matches. It also comes with a tutorial, which helped, since the matches might break if you do not burn them at a specific angle. Thankfully, I was warned by the employee at the store, who was a lovely lady in a navy dress.

Turns out hibi means 'day to day' or 'daily' in Japanese, and to be honest, it was really joyful for me to burn them for 7 consecutive days. Something went wrong with one match, and it didn't burn, which was not nice but ok.
Burning these matches quickly became part of my morning coffee ritual, and the 7 days flew by. And at the end, I left with a bittersweet feeling. I wanted to repurchase them, but €10 for 7 days was personally expensive for me.
If the experience was otherworldly, I would still consider it, but a 10-minute timeframe is a stretch, in my experience. It gives an excellent smell for 5 minutes, and it dissolves really fast. Also, I found myself stressed about breaking the match or wasting one for some reason.
So, I wouldn't repurchase it, although I would love to try the rest of the smells. A huge Black Friday discount, maybe? I don't know.
